9.The Maze Runner movies Easter eggs
9. The Maze Runner movies Easter eggs
If you’re a fan of the Maze Runner movies, then you’ll know that there are plenty of Easter eggs hidden throughout the films. Here are 9 of the best:
1. The first Easter egg can be found in the very first scene of the very first movie. When Thomas is being introduced to the Glade, keep your eyes peeled for a glimpse of a minotaur statue in the background.
2. In the second movie, The Scorch Trials, there’s a scene where the group is being chased by Cranks and they take refuge in an abandoned building. If you look closely, you’ll see that the building is covered in graffiti with references to other dystopian novels, including 1984 and Brave New World.
3. In the same scene, there’s also a reference to The Walking Dead – one of the Cranks is dressed up as a zombie from the popular TV show.
4. In The Death Cure, the third and final movie in the series, there’s a moment where Newt is seen reading a book called ‘Alby’s Guide to surviving in the Scorch’. This is a reference to Alby, one of the main characters in the books who dies early on in The Scorch Trials.
5. Also in The Death Cure, Thomas and his friends come across a group of people called ‘The Right Arm’. This is a reference to another group from the books who play a major role later on down the line.
6. One of my personal favourites – in The Scorch Trials, when Aris is telling Thomas about his past, he mentions that he comes from Athens which is widely believed to be one of the birthplaces of Western civilisation. He also says that his F Valles Marineris en español) which translates to ‘the great valley of Mars’. This is an actual place on Mars – it’s a system of canyons that’s almost 4000km long!
